DiCaprio to play a Nazi colonel?

Variety is reporting that Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards is searching for a co-financing partner to handle offshore territories for his WWII drama with intersecting storylines. Last week there was word that Tarantino was pursuing Brad Pitt about the possibility of playing the key role of Aldo Raine. Tarantino met with Pitt in France on Tuesday, and he plans to also meet with Leonardo DiCaprio on Thursday to gage his interest about playing another lead role, that of Hans Landa.

This would be quite a catch for Tarantino, to land two A-list stars, and would definitely help where financing is concerned. If the two actors get on board, it would the first time the two appeared in a film together, not to mention a Tarantino-helmed project. But Pitt is no stranger to Tarantino dialog, as he had a small but oh-so-great turn as a stoner in Tony Scott’s True Romance.

  1. What a strange choice. The character reads on the page more in line with actors like Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman or Ralph Fiennes. Landa has an unsettling amicability that covers an imposing presence. Which DiCaprio, despite his talent, has never really played before.
