Technology breeds competition. It looks like Sony, after winning a heated battle with HD-DVD this year, has blocked their movies on Netflix from streaming on the XBox 360 console.

According to this article, Sony, has blocked a few hundred Columbia Pictures titles from being viewed on the 360 console including SUPERBAD, THE KARATE KID and BAD BOYS. Columbia Pictures is a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Netflix VP of corporate communications Steve Swasey told MTV Multiplayer, “In the case of Xbox 360, a few hundred titles are temporarily unavailable to be streamed via the Xbox game console. Those titles are still available to be watched on subscribers’ computers and on TVs via other partner devices, and we hope they’ll be licensed for Xbox 360 shortly.”

No word yet from Sony.
