It seems we can’t go a day without hearing about another project that Ridley Scott is eying. He’s contemplating an Alien prequel, an L.A. Noir tale with Casey Affleck (The Kind One), and he’s got a baker’s dozen of other projects that he’ll either produce or direct. Now there’s word he wants to collaborate with Angelina Jolie on Gucci, a drama about murder and decadence in the Gucci fashion dynasty.

Jolie would play Patrizia Reggiano, the woman who was sentenced to 29 years in jail for plotting the murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci.

Fox 2000 is in the process of hiring a writer for a rewrite. The drama that will bring us back to the glamorous days of the Gucci family dynasty in the 1970s and ’80s when the family was selling $500 million in product annually. Fighting within the family led to their downfall until Maurizio, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, came out on top of a vicious power struggle to run the family business. Just when he was about to reestablish the brand name by debuting a line designed by newcomer (and now film director) Tom Ford, Maurizio was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.

As the script is still being developed, Scott needs to lock down an actor to play Maurizio. The director has approached Leonardo DiCaprio who Scott previously directed in Body of Lies. However, at this point, he has not committed.

Jolie is likely to next star with Sam Worthington in The Tourist, a thriller to be directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. It’s to begin production early next year.

Scott is currently in post-production with Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
