Offbeat Trailer Sunday: 36 Stairs
By Travis Leamons - November 1, 2009 | Email the author

If anyone knows what this trailer is about just by watching it, you get a gold star for the day.

Now I have seen a lot of trailers this year – hell, this decade – but I am always amazed when I see a trailer that doesn’t give me a clear indication of what the movie is about. A trailer’s job is to entice a person just enough so that he’ll shell out the dough to see it in theatres. But if it’s too complicated for the average joe, multiply that 100 fold and you have a major problem. But considering that 36 Stairs won’t make it outside the art house, you need not worry. So check it out and tell us what you think.

What’s it about?: 36 Stairs is a distinctive dystopian vision where humans utterly depend on bio-mechanical alteration to withstand the deteriorating climate.

36 Stairs is from writer/director Grzegorz Jonkajtys, of Ark previously. In addition to directing, he’s worked on visual effects for films like Star Trek, Surrogates, Transformers: RotF, and Terminator Salvation. Jonkajtys’ co-writing and producing partner Philip Kotch also worked on effects for Bay’s Transformers sequel as well as Sunshine and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The film stars Rodrigo Lopresti, of Last Days and The Night Listener previously.
