Disc News: Paranormal Activity Spooks Holiday Season
By Travis Leamons - November 24, 2009 | Email the author

Paranormal Activity was an $11,000 film that became a $100 million success, largely because of word-of-mouth advertising. Now Paramount is cashing in after the Christmas holidays by releasing both the DVD (MSRP: $29.99) and Blu-ray (MSRP: $40.99) on December 29, 2009.

The DVD will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround and Spanish 5.1 Surround (theatrical version only). The Blu-ray will be presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital (theatrical version only).

In the extras department, the DVD and two-disc Blu-ray include the original theatrical version, plus an unrated version with a shocking alternate ending. The Blu-ray also includes a digital copy of the theatrical version. You can check out the artwork below:

  1. $30 for a one-disc DVD?! Don’t get me wrong, I liked this movie, but…please.

  2. That’s just MSRP Matt. Chances are it’ll come out at $19.99 for DVD and $29.99 for Blu-ray.

Probably a few bucks cheaper during the release week too…at least for the DVD.

  3. Yeah….Amazon will probably cheapen it, too….and Target is good for cutting the price down in store, too.

  4. I’m so not paying $30 for another sleepless night. $20 maybe, but not $30.

  5. I’m still ticked I spent 10$ on a ticket to begin with….so not worth it.
