Word is out that the 1979 horror classic The Amityville Horror is going to soon be headed back to theatres in the form of a remake.
Yes, you heard me right. The same film that got the remake treatment back in 2005 is already overdue (?) for being remade. This would be the tenth film in the series including the remake from four years ago.
Amityville centers on a family that moves into a home which was long left empty thanks to a horrible tragedy that had occurred inside. A young man brutally murdered all of his family when after claiming he was told by voices in his head, and the house, to do things.
The original in 1979 was excellent while the remake in 2005 (starring Ryan Reynolds) was not nearly as good, but did have some slight changes. Word is that this new film will be a remake, but also have a different take on the plot.
Not sure how I feel about this. I complain enough about lack of creativity and originality thanks to remakes of horror movies that were made some twenty years or so ago, but four years??? Only time and casting will tell.

What the what?! That’s crazy!
Ya know, if they’re going to keep up with the damn remakes then at least go through the horror library before revisiting something you JUST did five years ago.
This is some lazy ass filmmaking right here.
I wish they would remake “Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes.” Nothing’s scarier then a killer lamp.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
I’m so damn sick of “reimaginings.”
And while I did enjoy the first Amityville. Dude, it’s a house. Just leave. I don’t understand why anyone would stick around.
