This has been an interesting decade for film. Comic book films really came into their own, the Bromantic comedy was born and a new generation of filmmaker brought their stories to live to entertain millions.

This decade has been a very bi-polar one in terms of cinema.

The one thing that inspires the most debate amongst every group of cinephiles is that of the Academy Awards. The Academy represents the best of the best, the pinnacle of movies for any given year. It’s something we all debate and bet on, as the annual Oscar pool for the IP Movie Staff reaches epic proportions.

I love to laugh, don’t we all? As much as I love a good drama with an emotional story, a great action movie with big explosions or a top notch scary film that scares the [expletive deleted] out of me, nothing makes me happier than a good comedy. So what qualifies a film to make the top ten comedies of the 2000’s?

Rapid advancements in technology and the increasing acceptance of animation as a genre not limited to being solely for children has led to this being an interesting, and excellent, decade for animated films.

Those reading this feature hoping to find Mission to Mars, Supernova, Ultraviolet, or any Harry Potter films, I’m sorry, but you’re just wasting your time.

Like comics, the movies based on them grew up. Sure, the majority of comic movies featured spandex-wearing supermen and women fighting other spandex-wearing supermen and women, but slipped in between these blockbuster action flicks are horror stories, science fiction allegories, and simple human, down-to-earth dramas.

Pity the documentary – the saddest and most ignored film genre.
